Ultima Underworld II: Labyrinth of Worlds (Origin Systems, 1992)

Using the same engine as the original Ultima Underworld: The Stygian Abyss, Ultima Underworld II: Labyrinth of Worlds tells a much more interesting story, more in sync with the Ultima universe than its predecessor. A continuation of the events in Ultima VII: The Black Gate, and setting the stage for Ultima VII Part II: Serpent Isle, Ultima Underworld II is definitely interesting. However, even though the game takes place on eight worlds besides Britannia, most of the worlds look the same, and don't offer much difference in terms of combat or role-playing. The game can also become tedious as it tends to degenerate into highly unbalanced combat and senseless and endless wandering around far too easily. However, since the story and game play are excellent, I definitely have to recommend this game, especially to fans of the original Ultima Underworld, and practically everyone else who has the patience required to get through certain, mostly uneventful, parts of the game.
