Worlds of Ultima II: Martian Dreams (Origin Systems, 1991)

The second game in the Worlds of Ultima series, Martian Dreams was a very classily done game with several very unusual twists and modifications on the themes first presented in Ultima VI: The False Prophet. Though the graphics and the engine are very similar, the story takes even a more fantastic turn, thrusting historical characters into an interesting type of "science-fiction" story. Less of a role-playing game than an adventure game, Martian Dreams remains an entertaining and expansive adventure with the flavor of Ultima in a colorful and inventive new format. Any fan of the Ultima series will enjoy this game, but as it requires no actual knowledge of previous Ultimas, just about anyone will enjoy Martian Dreams.
