The Lurking Horror (Infocom, 1987)

Infocom's first and only attempt at a true horror story succeeds with a vengeance, and Dave Lebling is in his finest form in The Lurking Horror. While not necessarily a hard game, there are certain parts of it that are not at all obvious and that no real hints exist for, which is the biggest problem with this game. There are several places in The Lurking Horror where truly scary and terrifying things happen (though they don't connect together well to each other, but they do to the main plot). This is not a game for the squeamish or the unimaginative as you will need a strong stomach and imagination to play this game, crafted in the finest Stephen King and H.P. Lovecraft tradition.
