One of the most popular and spectacularly-designed computer games ever written, Sid Meier's Civilization is a volcanic and incredibly addicting strategy game in which you begin with one or two groups of settlers and attempt to create a world-spanning civilization that either subjugates all of the others on the globe or is the first to colonize a new world in the star system of Alpha Centauri. The game is also a good mix of combat, strategy, and in some cases urban planning, so that all of them get the attention they deserve, but that no one aspect dominates the game. With an amazing amount of detail, historical accuracy, and inherent replayability in every regard, Civilization is a fantastic game that everyone should experience.
